The Best Treatments For White Skin Spots On Skin

One of the most severe skin conditions is the appearance of white skin spots on skin.  There are several factors that may be causing this condition.  In a majority of the occurances it is due to a loss of pigmentation (melanin).

There are quite a few pigmentation disorders that can lead to an increase in white spots or loss of skin tone.  This condition is affecting millions of people regardless of sex or race.

You may be asking what are the causes and how do I treat them.  That is a good question and lets see if we can answer it for you.

1. Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a loss of pigmentation disorder in which white patches appear on the skin. It is not contagious condition. But people with vitiligo has to suffer emotional distress due to this depigmentation resulting in skin white patches problem in their skin.

Vitiligo is sometimes caused by auto-imunity.  It is also known to be hereditary.  Unfortunatly there is little treatments available today.  Hopefully with the improvements in science we will see effective treatments being discovered soon.

2.  Nevus Depigmentosus

Nevus Depigmentosus is similar in that it is a form of hypopigmentation.   A persons age is usually not a factor in nevus.  Several cases have been diagnosed at birth.  The size of the spots have grown as the babies bodies have grown as well.

Nevus Depigmentosus is usually a lot less sever than Vitiligo.  The white skins spots are stable white lesions.

They are caused by the melanocytes not functioning properly causing the cells to not produce pigmentation as they should.

4.  White Scars and Hypopigmentation

This type of depigmentation is usually caused by some injury.  The scars that form after an injury heals often resembles vitiligo.  There can be caused by any physical or chemical injury even acne.

There are several treatment methods available from laser, peels, as well as alternative natural methods.

5.  Pityriasis Alba

Pityriasis Alba is a chronic skin disorder that primarily affects boys versus girls.  It is seen more in winter since it is caused by cold dry air.  The condition does not causes a stinging sensation when exposed to UV rays.

There are several methods to treat Pityriasis Alba.  The most common is applying mosturizing lotion.   Natural remedies used for hyperpigmentation can also provide some relief.

Having white spots on skin is not as common as hyperpigmentation but it can be just as difficult for the person affected.  In most cases treatment is available.  Be sure to check with your family doctor with any questions on causes and treatments.
